Video: Industry Mine

InIllinoisWater.org is part of a suite of web tools that I developed for the Environmental Law & Policy Center. This storytelling and advocacy tool includes original reporting and stunning photography that showcase the clean water challenges and opportunities facing Iowa (as well as sister websites about Indiana, Iowa and Minnesota).

As project manager, I oversaw the strategies for messaging, design, web development, content creation, and ongoing marketing. I also served as videographer and video editor for all of the videos that accompany our stories.

The Industry Mine near Macomb, IL, violated its water pollution permit 624 times between January 2004 and September 2011. But its operators say the mine is not harming the environment and that permit limits are simply unrealistic. A local woman and environmental groups are trying to discover the truth.
